To Secretary - Acknowledges his letter as noted and states that in the opinion of the Governor General in Council the proceeding of the Local Government should be in confermity with the principles laid down in the copy (accompay) of an opinion on the subject from the Advocate General & that it should be pla. announced that the Government ones not hold itself responsable for the value of any property destroyed for Military Purposes during the disturbances - but that a reasonble compensation for such # will be granted to all those who can satisfacting establish that the were local to the British Government - With respect to land value will be give for so much of it as is retained by Government states that the # right which it is to be informed from the translation of all Courts proceeding was formerly confisdated.
