Recommendations of the Senior Police Officers Conference that statutory provision to restrict the powers of tampering with the police acts and Rules should be contained in the new Government of India Act or in the Secretary of State`s Rules made under it: any amendment or repeal of the Police Acts (1861 and 1888) and local Police Acts should require the concurrence of the Governor General that it should laid down that no rule under the Act shall be made amended or cancelled without the previous concurrence of the Governor of the province.
