With refrence to para 3 and 4 of his no 341 of the 30th Ultimo regardings the increased rate of the pay to the mounted plice sanctioned byt eh late Lt.Governor being to notice that the men sentfrom the punjanb entertained at the ususal rate of 20 Rupees a month will doubt less feel discontented at finding the rate in the N.W.so much higher than what they receive and it being the general of opinion given attention to the subject that 25 rupees should be the pay of a mounted soldiers who pruchases and maintains his own house.
