Babu Dhaneswar Bohidar, a foreign service officer serving in the feudal state of Patna, was granted a jail stipend of 15 a month for the time he spent performing his duties as the state jail's superintendent. A jail allowance of a comparable amount may be granted, at the whim of the governments of Bihar and Orissa, to any officer who may be assigned from British service to a foreign service in the Patna State and who may be required to perform the duties of Superintendent of the State Jail in addition to his or her own duties
