In reply to No. 57-191, dated 8th ultimo, sanctions the removal of the sum of Rupees 250, expended on the Court-house at Beeling in 1856, from the books of the Moulmein Treasury. Enquires why he and the Commissioners of Divisions do not enforce a system by which cases of this kind can be brought to light at the time they occur: and requests to be furnished with a special report on the State of the inefficient balance of every treasury in British Burmah, with an explanation as to why the Civil Accountant does not bring to notice items in the inefficient balance which are not adjusted within a reasonable time (Copy of correspondence to Financial Dept)
