Views of the Delhi Legislature on the S.R. Bill, mainly:- (1) Delhi should be conferred the status of a State like other States in the Union subject to any safeguards which the Central Government might consider necessary on account of the fact that the Capital of the Union is also located in Delhi. (2) For the proper development of the Delhi State in the future, the areas lying around Delhi upto at least 25 miles may be included in the State so that the State might get sufficient hinterland to develop its urban as well as industrial and rural population and trade
