A question whether certain categories like store Issuer, Store Clerks, Station Clerks, etc. are governed by the term Workman under the W.C. Act, 1923. The question whether an employee, irrespective of whether he was employed on clerical duties or not should be treated as a workman or not within the scope of the W.C. Act of not had to be decided with reference to the nature of work on which he was employed at the time of accident. The Law Ministry confirmed that the types of cases referred to by SE Railway would fall within the scope of the W.C. Act Clarified to SE Railway accordingly
