Submit extract from the audit statement Meerut commisst . department for May 1848 . The retrenchements consist of only 2 items. Item 1st charge on account of torehes oil, guides and with Her Majesty 98 regiment on its March from Dimapore to Meerut, retrnched as not being a commisst chjarge. Colonel Robnerts at present in command is unable to say whether the late Col. Gregary who comended at the time had any special aurhtority for incurring the expense, and that no assets of the deceased. officer remains in his hands. The majority of the Board in forwarding this case ofr the consideration of Govt. observe that it was submitted for sanction by the Commander in Chief lt. coll. Mactier thinks the Comt. officer should be held responsible.
