Forwars despathc from the Mily.Deptt. fort St.George No.1882 Dt.21st May last, proposing that in consiequence of the disturbed state of that part of country, should be either discontinued or the party,removed elsewhere, also a report thereon by the surveyor Gen. of India, advocating, on the grounds of his want of confidence in the fact & management of Major Brown in Charge that it be suspended for 2 years during which interval a young officer may be trained to take up the survey and while on this subject he earnes the suggest the appointment to the great trigonometrical survey of Lieut.Pollard & Temant of Engineers from whose high qualifications much advantage is to be anticipated.
