In reply to letter no 4002 of the 23rd april 1851. stating that from its accompaniments no positive proof can be deduced that the mules were Killed or injuired by the men of Her majesty 22nd offt and that Lt. jackson was not justified there fore in acepting the mere statement of a native as true and there upon reporting decided to major Ramsay the Joint Depy Commissary General that the mules had been wilfully shot by some of the Privates Intimating that the cost of the dead mule, and of the living one should it turn out use less , must be written off observations.
