With reference to a lr. of the 23rd Ultimo, states that the gover. genl. is of opinion that the several propositions submitted by the Commander in chief, with a view to the adjustment of the estate of the deceased officers & soldiers of H.M.44th Foot, may be adopted with the Exception of the grasit of Compensation for the loss of Necessaries & ca approves of the mode of Proceeding suggested, but thinks that the necessary orders would be most Conveniently issued at Calcutta.
