Lieut. Governor - In reply to letter of the 13 January last transmitting an Extract from the Courts letter of the 12th July/20 recpecting Mr. Baines late Resident at Moco Moco, & regarding the rank of persons appointed to Bencoolen. & their allowances whilst out of employ - details the manner in whcih the Honble Companys Servants on that establishment are at present employ - Solicites instructions on various points connected therewith, & on the extent of the future establishments of that Residency - Calls the attention of Government to the actual condition & circumstances of Bencoolen, & gives his opinion on the measure of dis-continuing the Bengal Servants.
