From Mr. F. W. Russell 2nd Tanjore Commissioner - In reply to letter of 10th April notifying his appointment as 2nd Commissioner states that in 1823 when he accepted the situation of 3rd Member in the Carnatic Commissioner the Governer General informed him of the probability of the immediate vacancy of the 2nd Seat, to which he should eventually succeed with all its advantages - Solicits a re consideration of the order by which the salary of the 2nd Commissioner has been reduced to 5000 Rs. per mensem.
