From Chief Secretary Fort St. George - In reply to letter of 21st October last. Encloses copy of a letter from the Tanjore Commissioners together with copy of a Separate Document on the subject of Major Crisps salary as Mahratta Translator. Observes that the 2nd & 3rd Commissioners entertain different view as to the probable period within which the business of the Commission may be closed - also copy of a letter from the Government Commissioner and states that the Salary of 28000 Rs. per Annum was authorized by the Court of Directors. The Government Commissioner draws no allowances.
