From - With reference to the proposal of the Municipal Committee of Singapore for the drainage of the town remarks that the Government of India cannot undertake to make any grant to that Committee from imperial funds for the purpose, but if the Municipality of the town, a town which which is wholly untaxed excepts for its own purposes, will guarantee the payment of 4 per cent interest & show that due provision will be made for the maintenance of the works when completed , the Supreme Government will as it has before stated, be prepared to advance such a sum of money as might be necessary to carry out the contemplated project.
