To Secretary - It appears that the Protector of Emigrants at Madras follows the plan adopted by the Protector at Calcutta in 1848, in omitting the finance columns from the monthly report of his proceedings a from for which was prescribed in letter from this Department No. 182 dated the 7th October 1843 - The Government of Madras are no doubt were that it was intimated by the Government of Bengal at the time this omission was sanctioned that an annual statement shewing the amount chargeable to the Colonies to which Emigration to his place must be substituted for the finance colums enquires whether such an annual statement is prepared at Madras & to whom it is rendered since it does not appear that it is received in this office referes to the correspondence noted relative to the plan adopted for debitng & realiying the fee for Emigration
