In reply to no 1499 of D/30th september 1857 states that the Commissary general has sent instructions to the officer his Department in the northern Division to the himself in communication with the different civil authorities in the district with a view to engage as many bearers as possible for service in Bengal barkate on at masulipatam vizagapatam and other parts and forwards copy of reply received by the commissariat officer at masulpatam from the collector of Gangam to a requestion previoulsy made for bearers for the use of the troops expected at madras from which it would up pear that there to little propect of the obtaining many that district.
