In returning the Dy a General letter no 1112 of forwarded by endorsements no 403 of the 20th Instt reports that surgeon unter is fairly entitled to the staff salary of a surgeon for the medical charge of the sappers and miners with refrence to the special circumstance of his retention in charge and to the great strength of the Engineer Brigade consisting of 36 officer 58 Europe and 2317 nativers 305 sick and 65th wounded which with the sappers from but one corps sec 23 art 32 of the code is imapplicable to surgeon hunter case.
