The Extant orders on the subject and the steps to be taken to ensure punctuality in Government offices, grant of half a day's leave, etc are contained in board's letter No. E (G) 65LE2- 29 dated 6.11.1965, as further clarified from time to time. with reference to these orders the following two points bave been raised : (a) whether on certain festivals of local importance not cover by the list of closed and restricted holidays, railway offices can be closed early or whether staff can be permitted to leave office early, or attend office late, on certain religious, or occasions of public importance connected with the visit of high Dignitaries, and (b) whether the restricted holidays can also be availed of in halves. it is decided that :- (a) the practice, as now being XXX followed by the offices may be continued : and (b) restricted holidays being akin to other closed holidays and the employees having the option to make their choice, these cannot be permitted to be availed of in halves
