Intimating in reply to his despatch no. 2384 of the 7th Instt. that the Commissions appertaining to retired officers have been returned in this office, the President in Council is of opinion that those officer's would not now attach any value to their Commissions & that the amount of fees upon must them must be considered irricaverable the Commissions of certain Colonels residing in Europe & who may at any time return to this Country in the hope of obtaining higher Commanders are returned, with a view to their being lodged with the Presidency Pay Master who will furnish a Commission to each on return, realizing the proper dues Thereon.
