With refrence to a letter of the 2nd Ultimo, requesting information , relative to Lt.Colonel Thompson , allusion to a practice which formerly obtanied of making Enquires as to the Competency of officers for the Commissariat Department previous to their being appointed there to, report that the Board had no knowledge of such having been the usage, and annex Copy of that officer letter from which it will be peceived that he is himself unable to furnish any pratculars, regarding the rule or practice alluded to.
