Enquiry made by the Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Bombay whether the Speaker of the old Bombay Legislative Assembly who continues as the Speaker of new Assembly by virtue of Section 31(1) of the S.R. Act would preside at the first meeting of the Leg. Assembly of the new State of Bombay when it meets to elect the Speaker and the new Dy. Speaker. Decision that the Speaker and Deputy Speaker become functus officio as soon as the Assembly meets and that it is open to the Governor, to nominate, under Art. 180(1) of the Constitution, any member of the Assembly to preside at the first meeting of the Assembly until the new Speaker is elected and assumes office
