Ministry of Labour 1. Question regarding grant of exemptions to Indian Railways from setting up works Committees as required under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1957. Consideration of their question by the Joint Advisory Committee but in view of the Attitude taken by the Labour representatives in the Committees it could not offer its views approval of the Ministry of Labour to the abolition of staff Councils on Railways, as demanded by the NFIR Decision that in view of H.M's orders based on the Cabinet's decision regarding setting up of staff Councils at as many points as possible, the question of setting up staff councils should be discussed between the Rly Board and the NFIR as early as possible
