Read a Despatch from the Honble Court of Directors no. 20 of 1857 dated 11th March in the Judicial Department replying to letter no. 132 dated 14th November 1856 respecting the Memorial of certain Christain Missionaries praying for a Commission of Enquiry into the Social condition of the rural populations of Bengal and approving of the reply given by Government to the Memorialists that the appointment of such a Commission was - necessary war expedient.
