To Secretary - In reply explains that the Government of India would not permit its servants to engage in such a disgraceful transaction as that de tailed in the papers submitted but would punish him with dismissal. Adds that the Lawin Calcutta was the same as at Bombay and this Government Could do no more than the Bombay Government has done, that the necessity for a new law against tribery is admitted and that the point would probably not be overlooked in the Penal Code now under Consideration.
